Program Description


Spanish For All Austin, L.L.C program will cover the 40 hours training prerequisite for Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters. This program include learning objectives, skills and knowledge using different learning styles as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities.  

 

This program consists on nine modules.



Program Curriculum


​ Module 1 - Introduction to Healthcare Interpreting. In this module the student will learn about roles as a professional Healthcare Interpreter and practice modes and interpreting skills. Duration: 3 hours

 Module 2 – Healthcare Interpretation Session. In this module the student will learn objective related with professional healthcare interpretation session,  note taking during the healthcare interpretation session as well as Remote Healthcare Interpreters roles and information.Duration: 2 hours

 Module 3 – IMIA and NCIHC Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.  In this module the student will learn about Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as a professional Healthcare Interpreter.
 Duration: 4 hours

 Module 4 – Legislation and Regulations. In this module the student will learn about legislation and regulations referred to cultural competence, language access, confidentiality, disabilities, and how they are related to a professional healthcare interpreter.Duration: 3 hours

​ Module 5 – Dilemmas in Healthcare. In this module the student will analyzing about potential conflicts, and dilemmas in healthcare settings and interpreting. The student will have an overview of U.S Healthcare System. Duration: 3 hours

 Module 6 -Anatomy and Physiology for Major Body Systems. In this module the student will learn about Anatomy and Physiology for Major Body Systems. You will practice with your trainer simultaneous interpretation, using the information of the module VI.Duration:10 hours

​ Module 7 – Diagnostics, Treatments, Medications, Speech Language Disorders and Organ Transplant. In this module the student will learn common Diagnostics, Medical Tests, Medications, Treatments , Common Speech and Language Disorders and Diseases, and overview of Transplantation of human cells, tissues, and organs. Duration: 10 hours

​ Module 8 – Healthcare Specialties, Routine medical equipment, Infection Control. In this module the student will learn common Healthcare Specialties, Routine medical equipment, and Infection Control. Duration: 2 hours

​ Module 9 – Mental Health, Acronyms and Abbreviations in Healthcare. In this module the student will learn Common Mental and Behavioral Health Disorders, Mental Health Settings, Legal Status, Acronyms and abbreviations in healthcare with discussion of the dangers of using abbreviations.Duration: 3 hours
